Plein Air Works

local, location based landscapes in the open air

For me there is just something magical about going outdoors with a backpack, or lets be honest a backpack AND my trunk, full of painting supplies, scouting for a composition that inspires, and then painting right then and there. Working in plein air gives me a sense of connection beyond appreciation of the location. Im in the moment, ever present, attentively observing, and cultivating a awareness of my surroundings.

Each artwork is created in my home state of Missouri in an attempt to capture its winding rivers, stretches of farmland, and rolling Ozark hills.

It is my hope that these works refresh your eyes like a cool river dip and ground you in the red earth. If a work find itself gracing your wall, may it bring you the same clarity and awareness its creation gifted me.
